I would be the same if it was chinchillas... not been bittten by one, but they freak me out.

I worked with a vet once who had been qualified a long time.... (so should have known better),we had a ferret in as an inpatient, she was checking it over, and decided to put some food on her finger and offered it to the ferret yes you can guess what happened next, and this thing was not for letting go either, and while trying to detach it, it grabbed her other finger too.... I was shocked at what she had done, I could not believe she thought it would just lick it off her finger...!!! and she done it so fast I could not stop her before it had grabbed her finger.

For the record I love ferrets and if they did not smell so much I would have one.

Re: feeling chuffed!

the ferret that caused all this bit me and refused to let go - I ended up running my hand under the tap with ferret still attached saying let go or drown you little b*****d. My vet thought it was hilarious - that was until it bit him as well. And yes I still have the scars. The last ferret to bite me was one that I was injecting with delvosterone and I suppose as its stingy that was kind of justified but I had got to the stage where I couldnt bare to be in the same room as one. I was even dreaming about them last night knowing that they were coming in today

Re: feeling chuffed!

Well done Sal

Re: feeling chuffed!

Lol whoop well done!

I used to work with a nurse who felt physically sick when she saw a ferret. She couldn't even go near them when they were asleep.

I got bitten by one we had in and it was latched on to my thumb and wouldn't let go. She just stood there flapping because there was nothing she could do. Eventually the vet came in and managed to prise it's jaws open with a pair of scissors! Still got the scar now!
