how many RVNs out there would have chosen to be VN instead of being Registered if they had been given the choice?

Re: small question

I qualified in New Zealand, so wasn't given a choice - although it specifically states on the RCVS website that my qualification is an accepted equivalent of the UK one, I still had to register to be able to work in practice the way i always have... first apply to have my qualification recognised for £98 (??? see above!) then pay another £98 to be added to the register... and all the register seems to achieve is to restrict nurses to even more bureaucracy... does NOT get my vote!

I don't have a problem with being professionally responsible for my actions, and do like the idea of some kind of central list / register but also feel that we are being held hostage by the RCVS and not getting anything much in return. Afraid I don't really know what being on the list entailed Sal so I probably haven't really answered your question - sorry!

exactly

but given the choice would you have gone on the list or the register? - I am just curious how many on the register would have preferred not to be given the choice

If I'm completely honest I don't really care so don't know what I would have done. All seems rather pointless at the moment.

Re: small question

exactly

We still aren't seen as a profession in our own right and the title isn't protected so I really don't see why there should be a register yet.

Re: small question

LVNs are anyone who qualified pre-2003 and did not join the register. Anyone post-2003 had no choice. LNV and RVN can both carry out Schedule III procedures.

RVNs are accountable for their actions and may be called to attend a disciplinary hearing. they have to undertake a certain amount of CPD per year.

As it stand I will not be joining the register as there are certain things that need sorting out. such as recognition and protection of the title etc.....

if it was sorted out I would join the register.

Re: small question

To be honest I dont really know the difference between them. I know obviously that being registered makes us accountable for our actions. If you are on the list is it still the VS that is accountable for what you do when working under their direction?
