As some of you know I was nursing a sick wild kestrel with a great deal of help from our local bird of prey man. Today we released her back to the wild. She flew but was weak on her wings, they only way to

Re: What a day

If you've had the falconry spark I would recommend;

Falconry and Hawking by Philip Glasier or

Understanding the Bird of Prey by Nick Fox or

Training Birds of Prey by Jemima Parry-Jones

as good books to introduce you to falconry techniques and the birds used. There are a load of books out there to chose from but the 3 above I think are very good.

What starts as a spark of interest can quickly become an obsession!!

Very good work with the kestrel btw!

Re: What a day

Noone thought she would last the night as it looked like she had head trauma as well as worm burden.

She couldn't even stand when I first got her, knew she was on the mend when she started attacking my hand as putting her food in.

Fingers crossed I've helped her enough to survive

Re: What a day

Well done for all of your hard work with her

Re: What a day

You must have done a great job caring for her though.

Good to hear shes sparked an interest in falconary, always good to find another interest.

Re: What a day

A bit sad that shes gone but she's in the best place, where she's supposed to be, back in the wild.

Got to say she has sparked my interest into falconary, not to keep but read up on and learn about them.

Hopefully in a few weeks will be going to fly some of the birds the gentleman that's helped me got.

Re: What a day

How are you feeling about it all today?
