Their SQP also likes to tell people that the wormers and flea tx vets sell is no good, theirs is much better, and that roundworms arent a problem in dogs that tapeworms are the main issue!!

[/quote]

I over-heard a girl at my local one once tell a customer once that about worms too, don't know if she was the SQP - I hope not!
Apparently, according to this girl, there's only 2 types of worms animals get and roundworms really aren't that common so aren't a problem....

I followed the client out into the carpark & listed to them all the other types of worms their pup might get, the zoonotic effects of roundworm & directed them to the nearest vets.

Re: Service with a smile!

Our local one gives out totally incorrect advice, and we get loads of guinea pigs with ringworm from there, as well as the odd emaciated dying baby rabbit.
I think Pets at Home is a fabulous store for pet food & accessories BUT I absolutley detest the fact that their staff haven't a CLUE what they're telling people, and the quality of thier livestock is so poor :(

I brought a guinea pig from PAH once. I was giving her a check over and was convinced she was heavily pregnant. When i mentioned it to the assistant she said 'do you wanna put it back and pick another one?' When i asked what would happen to this one she told me that she would probably leave it in with the others. I was so afraid it would get sold to some poor unsuspecting person that i brought it. Luckily she had a smooth delivery and i got a free baby pig!

Re: Service with a smile!

I agree (and just to be anal, it's Heinz lol)

Re: Service with a smile!

I think Pets at Home is a fabulous store for pet food & accessories BUT I absolutley detest the fact that their staff haven't a CLUE what they're telling people, and the quality of thier livestock is so poor :(

I have a friend who is looking to take another one on if anyone hears of any..........she would like to take on an adult to go with her one year old neutered female, she would like a rescue/rehome after i persuaded her it was not a good idea for her to breed a litter as there are far too many dogs in rescue and this is her first dog i told her to enjoy the learning experience of having her first dog as a pet not a breeding dog Anyway since then she has had little one spayed and started looking for another..........my lecture worked!!

Sorry, but I would agree with the lady at pets at home. I have two cavalier king charles spaniels of my own who are both perfectly health. They were both from 2 different litters where none of the puppies had any problems. Yes there are alot of CKCS that have problems but that could be said for alot of breeds out there but there are the excemptions. We do have CKCS coming into our practice who again have perfectly health CKCS. CKCS are a lovely affectionate family dog and would recommend them to anyone. That's just my opinion.

I'm not denying they are nice dogs but seen way too many dying of heart failure for me to even consider owning one. I know there are better breeders out there who are a lot more careful but recently saw a little of 10 week old pups with stonking heart murmurs. They would make brilliant hearing dogs but they won't use them because of all their health problems. With mitral valve disease and syringomyelia I would rather have a breed who is less pre disposed to health problems.

Re: Service with a smile!

Sorry, but I would agree with the lady at pets at home.
