I would def say go for it. I worked in a busy practice where shedule 3 was only rivaled by the PDSA, but I still went for it, and totally loved it, I enjoyed the different and sometimes extreme way peeps worked, but also loved the change... at the end of the day it will only make you a better nurse IMHO! GO FOR IT!

At least go for the interview! It's great experience.

I was really comfortable in my last job. Was there for 5 years. But I wanted to learn more and do more and I took the massive step of leaving the veterinary field and move into the human field, so far loving. Miss my old work mates and some of the job. But thinking about myself and future career! Be selfish and spread your wings

Feel the fear and do it anyway

I could have stayed where I qualified forever, I was so comfortable there, but once I finished my portfolio I was a bit bored.

I left here to work at a 24hour hospital, and I was cr*pping myself about moving out of my comfort zone, but it's the best thing I ever did, I love it, love the variety of work and I don't think I could go back to a small practice now

Agree with what everyone else is saying... go for it! ... You have nothing to lose.... and however scary it is to leave your comfort zone.... if you don't at least try, you will regret it.....

I think as has already been said you have answered your own concerns.I dont think anyone 'feels' ready to move to referral but you will not just be left to get on with it you will have the support and training given to you.Good luck!xx

I've got an interview for a referral job on Wed! Ahhhh!

I say go for it! What have you got to lose?? If you don't like it then move on to somewhere else. You won't have a problem getting another job as a qualified nurse!

You sound ready enough to me! and you have answerd your own concerns.. if you feel undervalued and overworked (doing the head nurses duties) why stay if it makes you misserable? you might regret not going for it in the future.. and if you decide to 'jump in the fire' and it doesn't work out, then at least you have tried - but somehow, reading your post I think you'll love working at a referral centre!! good luck xxx

apply and go for an interview that can do no harm u will get a feel for the place.

i moved after 5 yrs in traning practice as i wanted to see how other places did it. i went to refferal vets and loved it. only left when me and other half left area. x x

i think your right im "comfortable "and "safe" where i am . but afraid of going stale, ive started to do display board and volunteer for clinics have asked to do more stitch ups/s/o etc but not much encouragement given or go ahead to do, think im just scared and also lack a bit of confidence to go for it!!!

afraid only you can make the decisions that matter. your choices are more of the same or take a chance and see where it takes you?

sometimes its more comfortable to stick with what you know - but far more exciting to venture into the unknown
