&lt;p&gt;I am not sure there is a specific calculation, which would explain why you&amp;#39;re having difficulty finding one. But I could be wrong. Aren&amp;#39;t you supposed to weigh the blood lost and replace it at 3 times (1g = 1ml) the volume lost presuming the animals TP and PCV are within normal ranges. And then I &lt;i&gt;think &lt;/i&gt;if it is more than 10% blood volume lost you would need to replace with whole blood. &lt;/p&gt;
