We only got rid of our hot air oven about a year ago We're a small animal hospital. One fact that really sticks in my head about then that often seems to be asked in exams (i had it in my level 2 last year, and in mocks) is "what is an advantage of a hot air oven?"...answer...it doesn't blunt instruments

I don't think it will matter because as you said they are still two different types of sterilisation, perhaps just make sure you use examples for them that can only be used with Ethylene Oxide - eg - you wouldn't do ET tubes with this... ?

Thanks for your suggestions, I think I'll probably use some type of cold sterilisation, sounds a lot easier than trying to get information about hot air ovens and working temperatures etc.

EDIT: I used Ethylene Oxide for the other logsheet with the same title, will it matter if I use 2 cold sterlisation methods?

Yes I agree, this is what they will be looking for I think, I don't know of many places (possibly large referral practices) that use hot air ovens...

Cold sterilisation can be used for things like endoscopes and ET tubes that can't be put into the autoclave

Have you thought about using cold sterilisation instead? Ie Meddis, Novasapa, Milton etc?

I would imagine this method is way more commonplace than hot air ovens.
