One to descend the joint space, so it's easier to move around the joint space and the second is that use are using a light source with fibre-optic cabling and it's to prevent the joint from heating up.

Why do you have to put fluid into the joint space? Is it so the tissues surrounding the joint are pushed out of the way? Sorry if this is a stupid question - I know nothing about arthroscopy!

yeah these Scopes are very very fragile and were only used for arthroscopy.

Did you have a scope especially for looking at joints or did you use the same one as was used for other dirty procedures?

All our scopes were sterilised using cold sterilisation. using Medis. Soaked for at least 30 mins prior to procedure. Surgeon would then be given a sterile kidney dish with sterile water in it to rinse the Medis off prior to use.

Vet instrumentation also do an array of pressure bags depending on the size of the bag you are using.

With regards to the automated pressure machine I know that you can get it on loan....

Thanks a mill. Thats exactly what we are looking for. We can get one from veterinary instrumentation but very exspensive. Any help would be great!! Do you have any advice about cleaning and sterilising of scopes.

this is the automated pressure machine you also need a box of the tubing to connect the arthroscope to the machine.

Hi there,

Where I used to work we used to do Arthroscopy near enough everyday! We used to use 1litre bags of Saline or Hartmanns depend on which vet was operating.

Just before I left previous practice they brought an automatic machine that maintained the correct pressure within the joint space and with that we used a 3 litre bag, which usually last for the procedure.

This is the pressure bag we got before getting the automated pressure regulator

Can't remember where they got the automated pressure machine from. Will have a look on the web see what I can come up with.

You gonna get an image capture unit so that you can record images and videos??
