In my first few weeks as an SVN (1998) I saw a slug pellet (I think) pooch vomiting copious amounts of 'plasticy' green/blue bubbles - it died, and i never asked the whats and why fors at the time..... Because I had no idea what was normal and what wasn't!

But if a large amount of slug pellets had been dumped over the fence - It's definatley a possible cause..... Would have no idea if that would cause discolouration of mm etc?

Its difficult to even guess without even having access to a blood machine but hypoglycaemia can also cause fitting as well.Think you had a very sick puppy on your hands.

after a bit of searching the garden, the owner has found a pile of slug pellets tipped over the fence - so that is favourite for the cause - the owner doesn't use chemical methods so certainly didn't put them there.

Breed is GSD x malamute.

we're still puzzled by the gum colour (which doesn't fit anything except perhaps liver failure which would normally show yellow but maybe cyanotic+liver failure could show greenish) - diarrhoea is a symptom of metaldehyde poisoning as is fitting, but she had a normal temperature and no vomiting......and fitting would be a symptom of hypovolaemia and definitely blood loss from the back end would support this, although the gums weren't white nor the temp low.
All a bit odd as the symptoms don't quite fit any specific cause.

all other pups remain well thank goodness, so it's a waiting game for now.

would agree with the PM , but if you can ask as many questions as you can beforehand at least it might give you an inkling what you are looking for

to be honest it could be a number of things

out of your list i would think lepto or some form of poisoning

again I echo that a PM would be the only way of finding out

Hmmm sorry to hear about pup but i think the only way you are going to find out the likely cause of this pups death is a PM.

can you find out what sort of rat bait was used? - ie was it calcium based?

does your vet think the blood colouration is down to methaemaglobin?
