Hi,

We use entralcare and find it suitable for most feeding tubes. I'm sure you have considered this already but if you can't obtain through dunlops do you have good relationships with neighbouring practice's that may use alternative wholesaler? It appears readily available from centaur. It is also available in a formula suitable to renal dysfunction in cats. :-)

Hello,

we use RCW conval for the kitties as it will go down a 10fg o-tube. but anything smaller would be the feline e-care which I have about 5 cans left of!!! and we use it for Naso-O tubes only....its hidden ;-) we're pretty lucky that we usually only use a O-Tubes

have you had any feed back from Krusse about when the feline e-care will be back!!??

You can also use Oralade (350240) for day 1 canine or feline HS (KRORA01) Free access or as ice cubes for cats

thanks for your reply steph, the contents seem to be the same, including taurine, but the fat and protein levels are lower in the canine one. Two of my medics are looking into an alternative. I agree though that none of these liquid type diets are perfect, but ofr N/O tubes it may be better than nothing in the short term. We are blending patient specific diets anyway for our oes and gastro tubes. cheers

I got 100% fed up with the in and out of stock of the liquid diets and the fact they aren't fantastic really.

We now blend the most suitable diet for the patient and then tell the owners how to do it as well....the only tube that we don't do this for is NG tubes as even I can't get it thin enough without increasing the volume hugely.

Regarding using the canine enteral care instead of feline my concern would be the taurine issue.

Hi Guys, once again we have supply problems with rcw conv support and enteralcare feline. what are your thoughts on using enteralcare k9 for cats?? My thoughts are that as conv support is for cats and dogs, and ensure is human, then i think enteralcare k9 will prob be ok. i cannot find a data sheet anywhere on eneteralcare feline to compare it tho.

We use Enteralcare too, half the price of Fortol. 1kcal/ml so easy calculation. Comes in Medium level protein (dogs) and high level protein (cats). Works really well even with the smallest tubes.

We had some Clinicare sent in as replacement items but looking it up, I'm not sure if its that freely available otherwise.

I can remember using Ensure when reanymyl went off the market and it seemed a pretty good substitute, dont recall we had any problems with its use

ahhh we were going to order some in this week.

We are currently using Liquivite but it's same consistency of really watered A/D which isn't the easiest to tube.

ARGH I'm so annoyed Fortol has d/c. I really wanted some this week
