I think the qualifications are farily similar with Aus and UK. VNCA is another site to look at, it is our version of this site, they adversite jobs on there too. Best of luck.

There is always work for VN's over here just depends on which state you move too

The sponsorship is fine (my future husband will be sponsored and ill be going over on his visa).

I was just wondering if there was any other specialrequirements i would have to achieve before i got there, such as another course. Our current course will be accredited in the summer andwe will thenbe able to signthe register.Do you think this will be enogh to work as a VN over there.

I think you can go on a 6 month working visa, but to emigrate you have to be sponsored. If you contact one of the agencies overthere they will give you all the info, they are really helpful, or any of the emigration sites have all the criteria you need.

Our college is urrently under review for accreditation by the veterinary council. Do you know if there is any special requirements for working in Australia. Will my Bsc in Veterinary nursing be enough to help me get a job over there.

I have just sent my CV to Australia Zoo - as i got in touch and they asked me to send one in so we will see.

As far as the pay goes, is it as poor pay as over here? I currently earn 17.5k for full time, 1 in 6 weekends and one night on call a week. From the few jobs i have looked at advertised on Google Austrailia, pay seems a lot more - maybe be wrong though as am rubbish at conversions!!!!

Is it true having a shot gun license and chainsaw license will help me if i want zoo work?

Thanks again kx.

Re: Moving to Austrailia

Vetlink are also another good agency, they always have loads of jobs on offer throughout Australia.

They have tons of jobs available on their site and even gave some advice on CV format, etc. Would give them a look over if I were you.

I think the web address is http://www.kookaburravets.com or something like that, I'm behind a firewall so cant view the website.

Re: Moving to Austrailia

Depending on where you want to go in Aus depends on where the jobs are. Kookaburra Locums is a good site to look at that advertises jobs, I live in Canberra and work is a little hard to come by. Im sure Sydney and Melbourne have more employment opportunities. Just to let you know the pay is not that good over here for VN's. I worked full time as a VN but I could not afford to do anything so I have to work for the government and work weekends at a vet hospital.

I am sure you will enjoy it over here, and best of luck.

Re: Moving to Austrailia

[quote user="kaz.banks"]

Careful in some states bunnies are seen as pests and therefore illegal to own!!!! That's about all the advice I can offer on working in Oz. A lecturer of mine once recommended the use of a rabbit hutch for post op confinement and got the oddest look from the owners hehe

Good luck with it!!!
