We advised to keep an eye on him for any coughing and she called the moment she got home to say he started coughing on the way home and is not panting - they brought him down and within 2hrs he was dead :-( We were all so upset and could only put it down to being a reaction to the vaccine but have never seen anything since or before!! Unfortunately they had another very ill cat which was then also put down on xmas eve... not a happy household last year.

Re: Post vacc seizures

In the days before I started VN trianing I worked at a boarding kennels who also helped out a Border Collie rescue by boarding animals that they didn't have foster home for. The owners of the kennels rehomed one of the said collie's. He was a really lovely dog, young but fully grown adult, was found on the streets and but had obviously been in a home although none was ever found. They'd had him approx a month before having him vaccinated with no signs of any health issues whatsoever.

On the evening after his first vacc he had a seizure, followed by probably 3-4 over the next week. He was started on anti-epileptic meds, but frequency kept increasing and before he could be stabilised he died of a massive seizure. This was about 3 weeks (maximum, possibly less) from when he was vaccinated.

Could be a coincidence, but the owners never thought so, as there was never the slightest hint of a problem for the month before his vacc. This is the only time I've ever heard of it though.

Re: Post vacc seizures

Never heard of vaccines causing seizures, but Yorkies are prime candidates in general for seizures...let us know how things pan out.

Re: Post vacc seizures

Do you know what type of vaccine it was?
