The coat quality is good, and apparently their non-poultry versions are good for those with poultry allergy problems.

Re: Arden Grange

Thanks everyone,

One of the nurses in my practice tried it with her mums very allergic GSD - their adult lamb works really well. She then swapped from Hills to AG for her own dog and he also did well with it.

My dog (now 3 1/2 years old) has been on Hills since she was a puppy, she had a recurrent urinary infection so thought I'd try AG as I'd remembered reading on a bag it has cranberry extract for urinary health (dont know if thats just a marketing thing or if there is actually enough cranberry to make a difference), the other ingredients looked good too (no "meat derivatives" etc) and because of the good reports from the other nurse.

My dog absolutley LOVES AG! She refused to eat JWB as a pup although shes not too fussy. She actually gets excited when I get her food ready wheras she never used to. She looks great and hasn't had urinary problems for 5 months (whether thats the food helping I dont know) The other huge benefit is that it's alot cheaper than Hills/JWB/Burns/Royal Canin etc. All our nurses now feed their dogs AG. I haven't yet heard anything bad about AG - have looked on other website forums too. Clients often ask about feeding - but many find Hills and JWB too expensive for them, we were toying with the idea of suggesting AG as we all now use it on our own pets.

Re: Arden Grange

My dog (a SBT) came from Dogs Trust so came home with a bag of it. His faeces were sometimes quite soft with it. I've changed him onto James Wellbeloved and his faeces are still the same. Every day he has a mixture of normal and soft poo! He has wind issues as well! He is perfectly healthy otherwise so i've kept him on the James Wellbeloved. I want him to have a natural diet without additives so that's why i opted for JW (easier to get hold of than AG, i order it through work). What do people think? Should i try another diet to see if it sorts out his faeces? Should i be worried about it being soft on a regular basis when he is healthy otherwise? I spoke to the vet at work who suggested putting him on Royal Canin medium adult but i'm reluctant to with the fact it's not so natural.

The food is made in the UK and you can get more information from their website - www.ardengrange.com

My mum used Arden Grange for our old German Shepherd, who had a typical shepherd sensitive stomach - and it seemed to work well. Mum transferred her next puppy onto their puppy food when she collected her from the breeder. She seemed fine on it for the first few months - but then seemed to stop 'thriving' - not ill, but coat lost some of its gloss and seemed to never put weight on. When she was about 6 months (I think)Mum phoned their advice line and they advised her, having said this will sound like madness, to put her on the adult salmon and rice dried. Can't say I agreed, or its what I'd have done, but it seemed to work and dog improved massively. She grew fine, with no apparent problems. Although she is now on Royal Cannin GS as its more convenient to get hold of.

Have heard of a couple of other shepherds who have improved from generally always having loose faeces to normal - but don't actually know all that much about it other than that...

Just out of curiosity, what made you ask?
