I am uncomfortable with some of the comments on this thread. We are judging a practice we know nothing about on the basis of a case we know very little about. Its easy to say what we would do in a given situation but if you were working in the practice with the patient in front of you the situation could be very very different.

Have to say I was super impressed with my vets when Niamh didn't eat, within 2 days of Niamh not eating, she was admitted bloods taken and fluids given and she was all better witihn a week. For Niamh the problem was simple constipation and dehydration, I think if they hadn't admitted her it would have been a constant game of what pills to give her next Shes a stuborn little thing! Even after fluids took us 2 days to get her eating normally! My vets were and are super good! Its a famiy practice and we go 2 the smaller one. The nurse always remembers Luka and is always giving me loads of advice and is helpful! If they really arent happy after this then contact the RCVS. So much can be achieved just by talking it through sometimes.

I know its a more conservative approach but sometimes it can get the results without too much upset

I know there are an incredible number of arrogant vets out there that do need RCVS intervention but there are still some vets out there who do the best they can for patient and client with what they have.

Does the practice she goes to have the facilities to run inhouse bloods? if they dont is it possible they tried conservative treatment for say the first few days to a week (which quite a few will do if the animal is only showing very vague symptoms at the beginning and doesnt appear to be that sick) and then as condition deteriorated they were not able to do bloods/carry out further investigation because of the Christmas/New Year break.
