For in between sizes you can use a ProCollar. It definitely helps with the fitting if you ensure it is fully inflated and attached closely to the neck by threading the regular collar through the fabric hoops on the inside edge. You're aiming for a neck-brace kind of fitting rather than just wearing as a barrier. For dogs with longer necks and bodies (whippets, daschunds, etc) it can be difficult to get a good fit. I heard of some people using two collars together but an alternative is to use an Anti-Lick Strip... www.anti-lickstrip.co.uk

Re: Leg friendly buster collars?

its a jack russel with the medium her neck is 12inches and the medium starts at 12inches? does it need to be bigger than that?

Re: Leg friendly buster collars?

[quote user="Sarah GG"]

we tried a comfy collar the other day, stitching broke straight away, so tried a new one and dog could get round it really easily so not as impressed as I had hoped, I was hoping that it would be a great alternative

sounds like you might have gotten the wrong size, I bought two sizes one I thought would fit and one size up. I ended up using the size up as the one that I thought would fit was too small and didn't keep her off her wound.

They look like inflatable rings and work by acting as a neck brace to stop the dog or cat from reaching around.

Comfy Collars - www.comfycollars.co.uk

ProCollars - www.procollars.co.uk

The Comfy Collar and ProCollar work in exactly the same way but the ProCollar is heavier duty with longer velcro straps. It is also a bit plumper when inflated.

We usually have both types in stock and we are the only UK stockist of the ProCollar.

Please let me know if you have any questions about either product and I will do my best to help.

Re: Leg friendly buster collars?

We have the same problem - I've emailed the company and asked them to put more holes in so we'll see what happens

Re: Leg friendly buster collars?

We use smart collars, they are supposed to be more comfortable with their black trim around the neck, and also to protect their owners with the black trim around the outside! only probs i find is there is never enough clips.. a greyhound for instance would need a size 4 due to their long nose, but cause they have a skinny neck, the collar slides! so I end up putting bandage in & around the holes, an tieing it to their collars! lol

Re: Leg friendly buster collars?

I have tried two sizes with my cat they are more comfortable and give more freedom than a normal elizabethan one. they are full of air so fairly light weight too. Down side to them is that recently they seem to have got harder to put together with the little clips being hard to push through the holes.

The other ones which are good are those made by Krusse, they are blue in colour and have heard good reports on animals accepting them better than most.
