to be honest I would be on the phone to the vet in charge of the case as soon as possible and ask about the tests and what is being done.

I have done that with my parents cats, however I know their vet and they know I am a nurse and are willing to speak to me properly.

I would ring them and explain you are a nurse and ask what they have done for the cat and if they have reached a definate diagnosis yet

no dont think they ve done any tests yet, is annoying coz hes not at my work unfortunately hes at my dads local vets

they admitted him friday and asked my dad to call on monday!!!!

abdominal effusion in FIP cases can be any colour. are they running corona virus titres? would be worth running an alpha agp as well (glasgow feline infectious unit runs this for you)

Hi,

We did this the other day in a 12 week old kitten and the fluid was clear. The corona virus titre has come back high so is indicating FIP. This is the 2nd cat this year to have this as the other was owned by one of our nurses. Her other cat 1st came back with a high titre but no other signs. After her kitten was pts we retested her other cat 3 months later and his titre is now 0. In both cases the fluid was clear.

I've only ever seen one true fip since in practice (9yrs) drained a lot of fluid off its abdo started off as a clear fluid and as it progressed the fluid turned green, o' wanted us to do everything but we were draining about 250mls of green fluid off his abdo 3 times a day, was pts in the end then postmortumed and confirmed as fip.

Any fluid I have seen from a FIP cat has been yellow, but to be honest I have only seen 2. Hope your dads cat is ok
