I have my practicals in less than 3 weeks time. I've checked the RCVS website and they have added a new practical task using the mini lack.
I have never learnt about or seen a mini lack so if anyone has a picture/info/circuit factor i would

Re: RCVS practicals- circuits

With the old style yes!
You kno it don't get much better at Diploma level, with the new style diploma candidates can email essays, case reports etc... to their lecturers prior to submission and get told where they have gone wrong so they can change it.
I'm doing the RVC diploma, and we can't do this for formal assessments as the assignment is meant to be anonymous (with only your VN number as identification), is that not the same with the DipAVN?

Re: RCVS practicals- circuits
I have to say back in the dark ages (or so it seems) we never knew what was going to be asked!! I think it's good in some ways that they post the details but we had to learn everything about everything just in case!!! so we could have been asked about a circuit that we had never even heard of...at least you have a bit of warning and can ask advice!

I agree with Steph! For my practicals, I had to assemble a To and Fro.............A TO AND FRO!!!!! I have never even set eyes on one before, and never have since!!
I'll third that!!! WE had to and fro in my first practice none since thank god! They prob still use it!!! The only place for them is either the bin or antiques roadshow lol

The lecturers also happen to the examiners!!! Makes no sense what so ever

I asked a few of the students who were doing it, ain't that pretty pointless. the reply was "we they don't want us to fail" No such luck for us old school diploma student who go in totally blind folded!!!!

Sorry rant over!

Re: RCVS practicals- circuits
It is not available as the semi disposable type that the others are, so for this reason you do not have to put it together. So although it looks like you have to do more, choose an ET tube and set flow rate, you do not have to assemble a circuit.

They have also removed the Magil task.
