Cat Harness, they are good, but I dont think this Cat will tolerate one.

We have a client that brings her Cat to the surgery in his harness.

He is so nervous, my mum though that I could use one to get him to go to toilet.

I was like he is not going to be like a Dog! just walk him around the garden and he will go. Cats are private.

He went in his dirt box last night, so at least he has not got a full bladder now! He will get used to being kept in.

Re: cat with a possible broken toe?

Glad little cat doing better!

Constantly meowing by the cat flap trying to get out! I have 3 other Cats so when I hear the other Cats by the catflap I let them out then lock it again!

Huxley hasnt passed urine since he has been locked in so around 24hours. There are 2 dirt boxes down but he is refussing to go in them! all my cats do there buisness outside.

I suppose he will eventually go! hopefully in the tray!

Beat me to it. That's what I was going to suggest - knocked up toe syndrome'. My dog had it after an RTA. One toe always stuck up out of alignment with the others - no problems other than the nail needed trimming regularly as it didn't get worn down along with the others as it nolonger touched the ground. Apparently its quite common in greyhounds.

My tabby broke his toe a couple of years ago, he was lame for a couple of days (but there wasn't an obvious deformity) so we x rayed him and found nothing.. but the lameness continued intermittently so x rayed him again a couple of weeks later and there it was... he ended up in a splint too but went completely nuts and shook it off within hours.. three attempts at bandaging and one angry tabby later we gave up and decided on confinement to a small room instead!! He was absolutely fine - he had metacam for a while and got a touch of the confinement crazies but apart from that no probs. These things are hard when you have a very outdoorsy cat though. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can with the individual and the situation. Good luck with the dressings and stuff

Re: cat with a possible broken toe?

Well he had a sedation.

Digit 5 was displaced dorsally. Vets suspects flexor and tendon damage.

He was able to replace the digit to its normal position easily without discomfort, but he extends his toe dorsally again once you let go of his paw!

He has had painrelief anti inflammatory etc

He has his foot in a splint, with a nice blue bandage.

It did not look swollen though and my guy was not lame or in pain (is your cat in obvious discomfort with his foot?)

I took him in the next day for the vet to examine and was told the tendon in his toe had gone. I was told that as long as he was happy there was nothing to worry about - he just has a wierd looking foot now! Fingers crossed for you that there is nothing too seriously wrong with your kitty cat. My vet told me that if my boy becomes unhappy and has to have his toe off he will still be able to live his outdoor life to the fullest so don't worry. Good luck for tomorrow - let us know what you find. xxx

Re: cat with a possible broken toe?

Hi

Hubby thought he had locked the cat flap so he couldnt get out but obviously didnt set it to the right setting!

Obviously my cat needs seeing today!! but as as I stated he is scared of humans and its a bugger to catch him. I dont like the idea of him being like this, and hate the fact that he is in pain!

I have been outside looking for him to no avail!

I would never let my cat suffer!!!

I was asking for advice on aftercare if he was to have a toe removed, not people judging me being cruel to my cat.

As to wanting to do the best for him leaving him in pain unless uncatchable is not doing the best.
