Surgical kits in our place consist of, four drape clips, 2 allis tissue, 4 small artery forceps, 1 large artery and one curved(large ) artery forceps, 2 bitch spay hooks, 1 scalpel blade, rat tooth and tissue forceps, mayo and metzenbaum scissors1 pair of gillies, 1 pair of???????? name escapes me, suture things lol, 3 triangular cuttin needles, 3 round bodied needles and one straight needle...... think thats it.

After use, pre-cleaned ultrasound 10 mins, then passed through washer disinfector. Laid out on foam covered instrument tray in order as above, set lists checked, signed in - class 5 indicator stuck to sheet, instrument tray placed in aluminium container, locked, labelled with contents and sterilisation cycle number. Sterilised porous load autoclave 3mins 20 secs 136.5deg C 15 mins drying.

1x adson forceps

This is going to be a test of my memory! Let's see if I can remember...

Cat kit:-

scalpel handle, mosquito artery forceps (2x curved, 2x straight), allis tissue forceps, needle holders, mayo scissors, dressing forceps, rat tooth forceps, 4x towel clips, 5 small swabs.

Dog kit:-

Same as for cat kit but with rochester pean's instead of mosquito's.

Bitch kit:-

Same as Dog kit but with 2x allis tissue forceps and 3 curved, and 1 straight rochester pean's.

Stitch kit:-

As cat kit but only one straight, one curved mosquito.

Opthalmic kit:

Scalpel handle, mosquito forceps (1x straight, 1x curved), eyelid speculum, corneal scissors, needle holders, 1x towel clip. 5x swabs.

I think that's about right.. Those are our 5 basic kits anyway. :)

Hiya, we have 3 standard kits which include 4 x large artery forceps (straight/curved), 4 x small artery forceps (straight/curved), scalpel blade holder x 1, rat toothed and plain forceps x 1 of each, towel clamps (cross action) x 4, mayo scissors x 1 and selection of needles. We have a separate smaller kit (stitch up etc) which contains 4 x small atery forceps, mayo scissors x 1, 4 towel clamps, plain and rat toothed forceps, scalpel blade holder and needles. Our needles holders are packed separately as our vets don't all use the same ones - Gillies and Olsen Hegar Swabs, allis tissue forceps, metzenbaum scissors , ortho instruments are again separate from the kits.

We have 2 basic kits - the small has 4 artery forceps, gillies, dressing and rat forecps, blunt/sharp scissors 4 x 7-5cm swabs and a scapel handle. The larger kit has 10 artery forceps, 2 allis tissue, gillies, dressing and rat foreceps, sharp and blunt scissors, 4 towel clips, 6 10cm swabs and a scapel handel - other instruments are added on a as needed basis. They are sterilised ion packs of 4 according to type -ortho instruments are prepared sep and provided on as a needed basis.
