I think that this was badly written, you can not say that dogs don't suffer from it, then say it is rare. It can only be one or the other.

Yes tetanus in dogs may be rare but they can get it.

Re: Larry the lab needs help!!!

Almost all mammals are susceptible to
tetanus, dogs and cats are just more resistant than others.

Larry has had many of the classic
signs: lock jaw, rigid hind leg paralysis (still has), droopy eyes/
jaw muscles and tail stiffness.

He was given anti toxin day 5 – 7
post symptoms (was treated elsewhere, long story involves breeder
etc) and thankfully didn't develop the worse clinical signs like
convulsions and death.

one of these might be handy too. It's much like a swiss ball but shaped like a peanut so that the dog is less likely to flop off to one side. and you can gentle rock the patient back and forth on it

£17 - 45 +VAT

Could a water cooler bottle (empty) wrapped in vet bed subsitute do you reckon? Could make the dip in the middle by wrapping 2" foam or some towelling, etc) each end then covering the whole thing in a vet bed. Not sure if would work though.

Might be able to make a hoist out of an old metal framed desk. Attach casters to each leg, remove the wooden top, and then put two struts across the top to attach the sling(s).

You can probably pick up a metal framed desk for free by talking to your local council/school/uni maintenance department (janitors/caretakers - no one official) as they usually throw them out. Castors can be bought from B&Q or similar for about £8.

Re: Larry the lab needs help!!!

http://www.patient-products.co.uk/acatalog/Physio_Rolls.html
