Would that be nolvasan Faye? we use that, as its kinder to the hands , we also have hibiscrub.The men tend to use that and the women use the nolvasan.

Hi Faye,

I've just had the rep come round last week and they do one called Medihex which is slightly kinder on the skin than hibiscrub... we have just taken advantage of a buy 2 big bottles get 3 small bottles and wall mounter free... possibly get in contact with your local rep about it?

That is safe to use for scrubbing up wounds aswell.

Whats the best one and kindest to skin that you can scrub up with and prep animals for ops with?, we currently use Hibiscrub, but finding it hard on our skin.

I have seen the new medisrub Moisturising Skin Scrub Solution, but apparently you shouldnt use it for prepping?.

We use to have a blue solution in a previous practice tht was fine for both and good on skin, but I cant think of its name!?

Our Vet has just ordered Mediscrub Nursing Hands (with Triclosan), seems ok so far !

The best one isn't manufactured anymore!!

In human theatres, occupational health are ok with nurses using triclosan based soaps, though often it's the detergent itself that causes the problems rather than the antiseptic. What have you tried? I don't suffer but find Hibiscrub particularly drying but Vetasept chlorhexidine scrub is absolutely fine.

One of our theatre nurses suffers terribly if she uses normal scrubs but finds alcohol handrub with chlorhexidine fine, it contains an emmolient. Remember to moisturise afterwards!
