I had a look through the notes I was telling you about, and I dont think they would be much use to what you are looking for. They are quite basic really.

I can still send them to you if you want though.

Re: Theatre protocols

hey there

Am currently doing the old style diploma not to new myerscough diploma, but I would say that the discussion is where most of the points would be gained in my opinion.

Good luck with it.

Any other help that you need feel free to ask away, that's the whole idea of this site

Re: Theatre protocols

Hi Nick, Many thanks for the protocol. I work in a small animal referral practice in Ireland. We have two theatres- one orthopaedic and one soft tissue. Im tryong to come up with some new ideas on how to improve the running of it before I meet with the partners so any advice is appreciated. Many thanks for replying.

Im also wondering if I can get your advice on the advanced diploma. Ive recently sent off my application form to register with the RCVS. I am currently on the Irish register of veterinary nurses as this is where I trained and currently work. I have my application form for Mysercough and I am currently writing my application essay. Im just wondering is it the discussion part of the essay that is worth the most marks as I have no idea of the marking scheme and am very eager to gain a place on this course.

Many thanks,

Cleaning protocol:

Damp dust 1st thing with routine disinfectant

clean in between patients with routine disinfectant (cleaning floors as required, ie if contaminated with bodily fluids)

End of the day clean down with routine disinfectant (include floors and walls)

Once a month clean theatre with a different disinfectant (we use Trigene for routine and Virkon for monthly clean (don't forget requires 10min contact time and rinse afterwards (wearing gloves, mask and hats))

Topping up vapourisors at end of the day

Storage of Implants.

Unsterile: these are stored in one of those sets of draws with different sized drawers for implants.

Sterile: These are stored in plastic boxes on a shelf and resterilsed every 3 months.

Any other questions feel free to ask me here or PM me.

Hope this is of some help

Re: Theatre protocols

Hi Saskia, Many thanks for your reply. Im mainly looking at cleaning protocols for theatre. We have one orthopaedic theatre and one soft tissue. Im also looking at the best way to store implants like screws, plates etc once they have been sterilised and also surplus stores of them.

Many thanks for the offer of your notes. I really appreciate it.
