Having trouble finding any information on how to prepare and use suction equipment as required for knowledge and understanding for level 3 folio. We don't have one in practice. Have tried a google search with not much success in the information

Re: Prep and use of suction equipment (level 3 folio)

If you want to include info about the different types of suction tips etc, Veterinary Instrumentation catalogue has a brief description for what tip should be used. Seeing as it only needs to be covered for knowledge and understanding, I wouldn't actually need any evidence in using it? Just how to? So if I wrote about preparing a sterile needle and syringe this would be enough to show I understand?

Ridiculous portfolio!!!!

Re: Prep and use of suction equipment (level 3 folio)

think I had this prob when I was doing this case, so I done a set up and maint in an appendix, but collection of abdominal fluid or something through a syringe is classed as suction?

Another option may be going to a neighbouring surgery to look at theirs?

Re: Prep and use of suction equipment (level 3 folio)

Try keeping it simple and use a needle and syringe! It can be classed as suction equipment if you are drawing fluid off a chest or ascitic fluid from the abdomen. Sterile needles and syringes can also be used for abdominal lavage. You still have to collect and potnetially prepare it. Not many practices have electronic suction equipement so this is what vets would use in those cases.
