Have alook at client lists. We have loads of medics as clients and they are only too happy to donante out of date stuff including sterile drapes, gloves and even occasionally IV fluids.

Yes they would be great please, we don't have an ambubag. Any equipment is gratefully received.

Nearest IKEA is about £15 of petrol away from me - hmmm, will look for local alternatives once I've researched their products.

Its worth trying local doctors/ hospitals anyway, we have couple of clients that work in human medicine and they have often dropped stuff off. A lot of it is useful.

Albatross, I don't have dental stuff (sorry!), but do have spare t pieces and ambubags if any use to you?

Go to Ikea and buy their 19p tea-towels - I use these for sterilised hand towels and they hold their shape really well. Cut a hole in the middle and you've got the right size for a cat spay, probably not big enough for a bitch spay but have a look at their fabric too, lots of cheap off cuts or chat to the manager, maybe he / she could give you a good deal.

I used to make all the drapes at one place I worked. The peter rabbit ones went down very well with the boss became a bit of a challenge sometimes as to what sort of fenestration/fabric combos I could come up with (will add we never actually used the funny ones only the plain ones - but they at least used to raise a smile sometimes when we all desperately needed it.) I particularly remember the star shaped fenestration with sequin border which took me absolutely ages to make - special pressie for a member of staff going into hospital for surgery. we had written on it 'Dear surgeon I am a vet and a Very Important Patient, treat me as well as I treat your dog and we will get along fine! They showed it to the nurses on the ward who in turn showed it to one of the docs

Don't think they do anymore. Nor to dentists, only some of the instruments are used in a typical dental office. Try to find a periodontist or orthodontist they will be your best bet for tools.

i was going to say that, but then didn't (lol), as I couldn't imagine that many human hospitals still use cloth drapes? Do they?

Totally OT I know - sorry

Was also going to say - try local dentists, but then thought that the elevators etc that they use are probably completely different to veterinary ones.. same question again - are they?

Depending on what fabric your mum has, you could have all funky colours too, instead of the boring green ones
