Thank you, that does. I am hopefully going to get the dog in april now, and she will be on allopurinol tablets. Im just hoping that she makes the winter ok over there as she is still thin and outside, so it will get cold there for her :(, but hopefully she will be in a nice warm house soon x

My parents-in-law brought a dog over from Spain who has leishmaniasis.

They were living over there and had decided to return to UK when they found Cody half dead by the side of the road :( So they had to wait to get his passport before bringing him home.

He's about 7 years old now, they've had him 4 years, and is in good health(if a bit podgy..roll eyes!) He's on Allopurinol tabs.

Thanks for reply, yes thats the prob, im not sure what meds it needs, they said at the rescue it just needs allopurinal tabs! which i think we can get but i think there are injections too! it all seems quite complicated, but i would love to be able to take this dog on! just really need to understand whats involved more, will try and look into it more

I remember a dog we rehomed from Tenerife (came via north africa) had it. There was a lot of probs sorting medication so make sure it is available here. I have a feeling it is one of those restriced meds.
