thank you Louise, as I said, delighted I was able to help.

I am definitely going to pledge some money to help Roy and I would encourage anyone else who can afford it, no matter how little. I am sure both he and the kennels would be delighted.

If every member on this site pledged one pound, that would be a lot of money

Thanks for all your support/ideas. I think we have something sorted now thanks to a fairy Vetnurse.co.uk godmother (*cough* mentioning no names SaskiaVN) but I don't want to announce the laying of eggs until they are hatched (or whatever that saying is). There is a fund raising iniative now in place for Roy and he has been local paper news recently so we are keeping our fingers crossed. If anybody wants to donate anything to the kennels for Roy I know that they would willing accept and this can be done via a paypal link on the site. I will keep everyone posted!!!!!

He's a lovely looking dog and maybe they could put a link on his page just for donations towards his op if they can't find a kind hearted (no pun intended) cardiologist.

Just a thought but if you can't get someone to do it for free could you open up some sort of account so that people on the forum could donate.

We must have 2000 members so that's only a quid each to such a good cause.

Thanks Paula. I have been so busy the last few days that I haven't had a chance to respond. I am keeping everything crossed at the moment that your lead will prove fruitful! I haven't contacted Craig as I don't know him at all so it feels a bit cheeky to directly contact somebody that I don't have any link to in any way Call me a coward!

Craig is ace!such a nice guy!Have worked with him - he did a cardiology refferal clinic at my previous practice - he would be a good bet to contact i know he has fellow close friends that are surgeons!

Hi, oh okay. I won't know you then! I have worked at Lincoln, Hull, Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby, Glasgow & Edinburgh Vets Now so I am a regular Vets Now groupie I think Winchester is too far at the moment - I am well and truely tied to Edinburgh at the moment.

Which vets now are you at? I keeping seeing your name come up as working at vets now but I have no idea who you are! Wondering if I know you as I have worked at quite a few vets now clinics.

HI guys,

I was at a meeting with the MD of Vets-Now last thursday and asked him about this, but sadly no cardiologist straight away

internal medicine, soft tissue surgeon and ECC only so far I think. Sorry! was ready to petition, but no good :-(

will keep an ear out for any friendly cardiologists though

LOL - royalty indeed - descended from a long line of Right Royal Prats! Shadow fits in well

I met Roy at the kennels. I was in the area herding cows(!) and popped in on my way home to say hi. I finally got round to having a look round your new kennel block, met Roy and fell in love

I have sent Di and email about a couple of possible leads but I have found nothing concrete as yet. I am doing my best though.

Ps. No - I cannot adopt him I have some how managed to acquire a third dog in the last four weeks - and a part time pony

Hi Louise! I didn't recognise you by your "formal" title - I had no idea Shadow had been adopted by royalty LOL!

I have just returned from holiday and was touched to see your post on the forum - and the supportive replies, thanks everyone. We are trying to raise sponsorship for the op because if Roy survives it (it is the biggest PDA you've ever seen!) he has a good chance of a long and happy life, and he is a sweetheart. Where did you encounter him - at the Bard?

I'm off to prepare a press release now, fingers crossed we get a good response, but please all you nurses in cardiology referral practices out there keep badgering your bosses - I'm prepared to take Roy ANYWHERE necessary to have the op. I might put him back on our website too - we took him off view whilst awaiting his cardio consult - check out www.caninerescue.co.uk in a day or two.
