will probably need treatment long term? Was chatting to a friend the other day
who has a young rottie that was on NSAI and would have been on these
long term, but is apparently doing very well off them and is only on
alternative meds atm. &lt;/p&gt;

He started to become stiff and really slowed down on his walks. He was put on rimadyl which really helped but we started hydrotherapy in June and he is now off the rimadyl completely. Can highly recommend it.&lt;/p&gt;

(and she turned into a naughty puppy again!!). if you would like to try acupuncture give me a shout, let me know what area you are in and i&amp;#39;m sure my vet will know someone in the area.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Diesel&amp;#39;s hips aren&amp;#39;t that bad (or so I was told) going off the x-rays, but he&amp;#39;s got worse in the last few weeks, i.e definate lameness when walking. I&amp;#39;m paranoid about lame animals as i&amp;#39;ve got&amp;nbsp;a horse that is lame all the time - lol!&lt;/p&gt;

Regular but controlled exercise is beneficial, hydrotherapy worked well for my dog when he was a bit younger and more agile. For a dog who my vet said had the worst hips he had ever seen, he has done pretty well as he was diagnosed with HD at 3 years, and is now 15!&lt;/p&gt;
