Marks and Spencers don't cover you for veterinary foods on their policy and the food I currently use is about £50 for 14kg!

We just sprinkle the capsules on he food and she licks the powder off - this is a big advantage as she wouldnt touch the other brands and she is imposs to dose unless she takes it in food. She has improved on it Did try her on rcw mobility support at one point and dropped the gluc/chrond but she got worse quite quickly without it so we will be sticking to cosequin and normal food. Cosequin is the one we uaully recommend at work due to their trials etc but do use some easeflex chews. It is really important what type the gluc is - must be Hcl - boss has a real thing about this and is forever drawing diagrams about difference between that and sulphate!!

Re: Joint supplements

I won a tub as well! If you look at the good veterinary products you'll see they're HCl - certainly synoquin and seraquin are.

HCl = extracted, more expensive to produce, more stable

Sulphate = made in lab, cheaper to produce, but less stable so apparently has to have salt added to keep it stable, so you end up with a high-salt tablet.

According to one of our reps, anyway.

Personally, I'm liking seraquin at the moment, higher doses of Gluc &Chondr than synoquin, cheaper, and has the tumeric extract as well (supposed natural anti-inflammatory). Have switched my dog from synoquin to seraquin and doing well.

Re: Joint supplements

thanks for that link Nick - I'll be showing that to our vets (and our reps) to see what they say.

Re: Joint supplements

http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=697&prodid=740

Re: Joint supplements

Holland and barret do a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement made for animals not actually found a bottle to read yet just saw it advertised.

Re: Joint supplements

I've been told to be cautious of using a human product in a dog as the glucosamine is the wrong type and the bioavaiability of the human stuff would mean that you'd have to give 10 times the amount stated on the bottle.
