Or do you just use normal instrument lubricant?

Re: instrument lubricant

Thanx for that Sisterscope - the current protocol - iv only been there 3 months and have now been giving responsibility of all things to do with sterility- is intruments are cleaned of debris and then put in ultrasonic cleaner they are then sprayed - from what i have seen on mass. This may well be the problem - so at the moment have stopped using the lubricant until can source something else or fix the issue!

It is the kit instruments - dont do the hand held retrators/instruments that dont need doing - your right no point lol!

Re: instrument lubricant

Just wondering, are you spraying the whole instrument or just the joint? Only instruments with moving parts that create friction require lubricating e.g needleholder, and then only the joint. Are you treating instruments individually or spr aying them en mass? There is no point lubricating a d/f or hand held retractor.

I'd avoid instrument "milk" baths at all costs. Bacteria, especially gram negative rods, proliferate in static water baths, this will effectively recontaminate the instruments after cleaning and disinfection prior to sterilisation.

We use Silkospray, silicone based aerosol lubricant, to spot lubricate the joints.

Re: instrument lubricant

Yes it is instol we have been usingbut dunno if formula or something has changed as itsjusta recent problem!
