Regardless of type and how often you intend to see a particular patient, it is an interesting topic as this is something most pet owners (shockingly!) have never heard of.
I do love quick reco on Hills website (hills4me) when talking to new puppy owners or getting dogs started on metabolic food.
Most pharma company websites have pdf’s and useful links for pet owners and clinics teams. (Hills, Royal Canin, Virbac, Zoetis, Dechra, IMV, BI, MSD, Elanco, AnimalCare… and lots more!). There are lovely little patient booklets from Zoetis for líbrela and solensia if you have regulars coming in for injections.
Hope this is helpful

I think it depends what clinics you are currently doing!

As others have mentioned, Body Condition Score handouts are charts are invaluable IMHO. It depends what food you sell in practice and what scale you are most comfortable with. I’m pretty sure you can print off the Royal Canin BCS handouts from their website (you can just google it!), but we contacted our rep and he sent a load through.

WSAVA also have a 1-9 BCS chart in their website from where you can print off or download the pdf. They also have a diet history form you can download, and a Muscle Condition Score chart for dogs and cats.

I like to refer to the ISFM cat age chart, as this gives owners an idea of what sort of conditions to expect in a cat at certain ages. This can be found on the ISFM/icatcarewebaite.

I frequently email clients links to the ISFM / icatcare website as they have some great advice about giving cats medications and training a cat to get into a carrier. There are some nice infographics about getting a cat into a carrier on their site.

I like to use the Quality of Life diary from the Peaceful Pet Goodbyes website.

We have a box in consult that has puppy growth charts and age calculator in it; the clients love this! Unfortunately they don’t send out the hard copies any more, but if you google Waltham puppy and kitten growth charts you can download them from the website.

i have googled a picture of what a dog nail looks like when you are clipping it to show owners what to look out for if clipping nails at home.

i hope this helps! I work in a cat-heavy practice in London and only doing basic nurse consults at the moment, so I don’t use anything fancy.

RE: Question about nurse clinic resources

Hills, Royal canin, Virbac used to do some print outs /handout and money off vouchers for food.

Weight clinic resources: cloth/flexible tape measure, camera for before and after photos, weight charts (Royal Canin/Hills do these in a booklet), sample dietary food packs, activity feeders or Google these, calculation sheet to refer to for calories required, percentage weight loss etc.

Geriatric clinics: blood taking kits in small lab/freezer bags, Doppler, environmental adaptations or links to websites detailing, mobility questionnaire, general health/behaviour change questionnaire.

Lots of big fluffy towels, comfy beds, tasty treats, Adaptil and Feliway spray and diffusers. Your cat clinics will hopefully be held in a cat- only room or all at the same time so no doggy smells. Same for dogs. Rosettes, stickers, reward certificates.
