Find the PL number on the medicine you have (there are often many generics/brands and these can vary) then put this in the search bar of this website. Find the SPC and check for the manufactures information there.

Usually thrown away after 24 hrs.

We use it for the day, keep it wrapped, and keep it in the fridge. So 8-12hrs? But it does say single use on the bottle.

In all the practices I have worked, we use it within the day of ops and kennels and protect it from light (as directed by the manufacturer) by keeping it in a dark cupboard or wrapped in vet wrap. As others have already said technically it is a single-use product in the manufacturer's eyes but it would be up to your vet whether they would be comfortable using the same bottle for different patients as long as it has been properly used and stored as they are the ones prescribing the medication.

Hi Chris,

You’re right, it is a ‘single use’ drug formulation and whether it’s used for human or animals that it still the same. Best practice would be to dispose of it after one draw. However, I would quite often use it for the day, making the draws as aseptically as possible, then dispose of it at the end of the day.

We dispose of after every use as it’s been broached and I’m not sure it’ has any preservative.
