We use summit, bova and veenak for our gaba, summit had 25mg beef flavour last time I looked.

Hi my cat has also been in Gabapentin 25mg tablets, which I’m currently weaning him off as he’s now started on Solensia injections. I wrap the tablet in a piece of stix style treats, with lick-e-lix on top!
I use the Gaba liquid for pre-blood appointments when he needs shaved, and he used to take in lick-e-lix but now won’t. I syringe it, which he doesn’t like and it makes him gag - I feed a bit of lix before giving it.

i would say I have noticed a huge difference in the effect of liquid vs tablet at the same dose and time frame for pre-appt. With liquid he’s really dopey and loved up, eats while getting shaved and nothing fazes him. With tablets, the effect was minimal.

100mg is the lowest dose human licensed gabapentin capsule formulation, There are many human gabapentin oral solutions 50mg/mL (check the excipients are suitable). From specials manufacturers (unlicensed formulations): Bova 25mg tablets beef flavour, 60mg/mL liquid honeycomb/beef; Summit 25mg tablets (beef flavourless); liquid 60mg/mL chicken/honey; XealPharma 25mg capsules.

I have not yet found a cat that has taken a disliking to it. They will happily take it in food or likilix.

There is also a transdermal version as well which is meant to be very effective but that would probably be more expensive due to compounding, but we get our gabapentin compounded into 25mg capsules from our local pharmacy but I'm not uk based

I find the oral solution easier to hide than tablets in wet food, reducing stress all round.

none of the on line pharmacies stock the 25mg. The smallest is 100mg

Many pet pharmacies online cannot display human medications on their website but will be able to do it over the phone as an order. If getting from a human pharmacy, you may be better off getting the 50mg/ml solution rather than 25mg tablets as they usually don't stock this size tablet. As others have said many vets will use Summit as their supplier for gabapentin but I am unsure whether they would supply to you as an individual.

Hi, I’m a locum so get charged full price for my cat at my vets. Wonder if summit would accept a vet prescription??????

In my experience, Gabapentin can be 25mg, 50mg, 100mg, 300mg and 400mg.

25mg and 50mg normally sourced from Summit.
