We are a very busy practice who often get lots of HGE cases (mostly caused by Giardia). Not all these animals are placed in isolation due to space, so when the animal is discharged we have a three day cleaning process before the kennel is

RE: Three Day Clean of Kennel OR Clean the Kennel Three Times?

Oh good, I am glad I am not the only one that has done their research. I have done the exactly the same thing. I cannot find anywhere that suggests a three day clean. I feel like it has been imprinted on us when we started our training.

RE: Three Day Clean of Kennel OR Clean the Kennel Three Times?

I am the head nurse of a very, very small practice. If/when we get infectious cases in, our protocol is to ensure correct concentration and contact time as per the manufacturer’s instructions of our cleaning product (Safe4). Usually this is just ensuring the area is saturated with the correct concentration for ~30 mins. I have worked in lots of practices where they do a 3 day clean, however. It has prompted me to look for evidence of why this is done, but I haven’t been able to find anything! This is why I am comfortable with the protocol we follow.

If anyone has any evidence of a study or reason why the 3 day clean is warranted I am certainly open!
