It sounds really interesting as it appears to contain most of the subjects that I'm most interested in but I just wondered how difficult it is to fit around work and kids (especially if you haven't studied properly

RE: NCert query

I have heard that the RCVS knowledge library isn't included in the cost of the Improve International course now, is it really helpful to buy this access to help with research? My work funded the cost but we are too busy a hospital for them to have allowed me any study time during work. I work more tha full time and managed the extra workload fine. I studied with improve international and I have to say the course content was excellent and very relevant. Now looking to do the surgical or anaesthesi cert! Hope you enjoy!

RE: NCert query

Hi, I’ve just completed the anaesthesia NCert, work 3 days a week and have 2 kids. I haven’t studied since my nursing diploma 15years ago so it was a bit of a shock. But I managed it and kept up with the 2 year programme - you can do it slower if you need to. I’m glad I did it but also glad it’s over it deal feel like quiet a challenge at times but also learnt a lot. I probably gave about 10hours a week to it most weeks (I am slow!) term time only! My work helped financially but I didn’t get study time at work - we are far too busy for that. Hope that’s some help, if you’d like to know anymore I’d be happy to chat.

RE: NCert query

The cert I would most like to do would be a diagnostic imaging one! So many practices are now getting advanced imaging but there is very little CPD/certs in this area of clinical practice. There’s only so much you can learn from a book. The imaging courses out there are aimed at vets, which involves a lot of diagnosing and not on actually acquiring the images. I did the old style Dip AVN. I studied whilst I worked too. Work gave me some time during work hours to study but you also have to commit some outside work time to it as well. Towards the end of my diploma work gave me extra study time during work to prepare for casebooks and exams. I think there needs to be a degree of flexibility on both sides when it comes to studying whilst working full time.
