Does anyone use a water distiller for their autoclave/dental machine rather than buying in bottles of purified water?

Do you find that this has been a cost effective choice? Are they easy enough to use/clean/maintain?

Thanks!

RE: Water Distiller

Hi,

We use one in my current practice. One distiller costs around £40-50 and the tablets to descale are a few quid for a pack of 4-6 plus charcoal filters only cost a few quid for a pack, distiller takes around 4 hours to make 4l water so not using too much electricity. Compared to average of £100-120 annually on bottled water, cheaper tor use distiller and also using less plastic so better for the environment.

Work out how much you're spending on water and compare it to the cost of the distiller. For us it was definitely worth the outlay of the distiller.

Very easy to maintain. We descale ours once a month (some may need done more often depending on how much you use it), charcoal filter gets replaced every 3 months.

RE: Water Distiller

Our autoclaves are plumbed into a water distiller that is installed in a cupboard underneath. This draws water from the mains purifies it and automatic fills and empties the autoclaves. Can find out more info if you need it
