Just following a conversation in practice today and wondering whether RVN's can perform femoral nerve blocks?
Obviously it would be under veterinary instruction prior to orthopaedic surgery.
Many thanks

RE: Nerve blocks.

The latest BSAVA anaesthesia and analgesia book has a good guide on how to perform it

RE: Nerve blocks.

Thanks Nick.
We have a nerve stimulator so can't wait to learn now!

RE: Nerve blocks.

Hi there

following training from our vets we as nurse perform both sciatic and femoral nerve blocks prior to cruciate surgery in canine patients. We use a nerve stimulator for precise location of the nerves. Hope this helps
