there is a recent US research paper on this will see if I can find it for you - think it was was either Michigan or Penn. I know I saw it within the last couple of months

(My dog was scanned by a brilliant ultrasonography afterwards and revealed no congenital issues, and I have discussed this topic with Anaesthetists at some of the big referral centres but as far as I can tell so far, these cases crop up periodically with no known explanation)
