When i leak test it there is an obvious leak. When i remove the soda lime cannister and place my hand across the gas outlets - no leak. when i just attach tubes - still leaking!

To confirm, when you say you take the canister off, and cover the outlets, you are only leak testing the inspiratory side of the system. This at least points to the leak being on the expiratory side. Again pointing to the pop off valve not being fully closed as mentioned above.

Another thing to check is the expiratory outlet for dents in the metal. This could be stopping the tubing from fitting correctly.

When was your ADE last serviced? You should able to buy the kit and do it yourself.

RE: Humphreys ADE

Hi Karen,

When you are leak-testing the ADE, are you just holding the orange valve stem down, or are you screwing the valve closed? If you are holding the orange valve stem down, it will seem like there is a leak as it will never close completely. Screw the valve right down and try again, this time there should be no air escape, no matter how hard you squeeze the bag.

If it still is leaking, the most common place is the soda-lime cannister. See if a bit of soda lime has gone into the screw threads, preventing the screw from being tightened all the way down. Also chack that you have aligned the base plate correctly with the rubber gasket - it must all line up perfectly before you screw it back together. Maybe it needs a new rubber gasket?

Hope this helps, shout back if you make all these checks and it's still leaking.
