And last few times I asked to clip I was told no because the op needed to be done fast

RE: SVN question: Is anyone else bad at clipping surgical sites?

It's a tricky one! I seem to always clip too little or (these days) too much and the cat spey patient looks like they're in for a hip replacement lol!!

On the other hand, you do not want fur in the wound so I would always say clip more rather than less if in doubt!

RE: SVN question: Is anyone else bad at clipping surgical sites?

Hey hey,

I love clipping and pride myself on my clips, however it is something that comes with practice. Maybe have a word with your clinical coach about wanting to develop this skill? Regarding clips being too small, even after 4 years in practice I still liaise with my vets to how they like their clips (We all know what vets are like for changing their minds). Again the more experience you get clipping for different surgeries and vets this skill will build. I always say its better to clip too small and expand than clip too much and make the patient cold/ more exposure for surgical site infection.
