This person does it mobile, was a human nurse and ultra sonographer. Also dog breeder. I'm just concerned that wrong info may be given out but I cant say how this person conducts their examination or what info may or may not be given

RE: Human nurse/ultrasonographer performing dog pregnancy scans

I know of human ultrasongraphers (these are radiographers who Have studied at masters level In ultrasound) Who undertake ultrasound of dogs and cats on behalf of veterinary surgeons. As part of their masters they are taught to write reports based on their findings. as far as I’m aware the only human nurses that perform ultrasounds are midwifes who have undertaken further studies in this field of practice.

also some referral practices employ radiographers to undertake CT & MRI scanning for them.

I can see a need for employing of both allied healthcare professionals. Until there are qualifications aimed at RVNs in this field of work, particularly advanced imaging techniques

RE: Human nurse/ultrasonographer performing dog pregnancy scans

[quote user="Sammyannieantha "]

I'm pretty sure it is, as long as they are only detecting pregnancy and not diagnosing disease or offering any kind of treatment. Compare to scanners who do it in sheep. Not saying I agree with it! If you're aware of someone doing this who crosses the line, offering any kind of diagnosis or treatment, report them! Otherwise, don't think there is a lot you can do.
