Most are using the Emi-Pet Ultrasonic toothbrush to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth. The toothbrush claims to work below the gumline, the dogs I have seen however indicate

RE: Groomers Dental Packages

One thing I do know is that keeping information to ourselves won't help the general public understand. Clearly they will choose what, to them, appears to resolve a problem and at a most cost effective price (in their eyes).

So, how do we release the news? Where do we release the news? Who releases the news? Do you think, basing this next statement on having read the RCVS take on such matters, it needs to be at RCVS level? I doubt they'd consider it within their remit to become involved in the public domain, but, in my opinion, they *should*. I akin it to DEFRA or WHO or PHE, as examples, sending out a public health message.

If you agree with me, who do we approach to get the ball rolling?!?!?!?!?

RE: Groomers Dental Packages
I think we should maybe try and bring them on side. We know that brushing dogs teeth is a good thing. We know from human studies that an ultrasonic toothbrush is more effective than a manual one. We know that staining or even tartar are not the important components when it comes to oral health. Many people don't brush their dog's teeth.

If we educated local groomers about what is ok (simple cleaning) and what is not that may help. To encourage owners to brush their dogs teeth and serrate groomers for brushing teeth is a stupidly mixed message.

My feelings on it.
Good take Apache, how do you go about this approach with Groomers who's advertising and verbal conversations with clients are 'alternative to the vet', 'save on expensive vet bills'. etc etc?

It's quite riling communication their giving out and makes it hard for me to even entertain any collaborative effort (even though collaboration is in my nature).

RE: Groomers Dental Packages

We would report any groomers who are doing anaesthesia free dentistry

It is mainly just this one groomer.

RE: Groomers Dental Packages

I think we should maybe try and bring them on side. And the really galling bit is that they are one of our clients and when they are in the waiting room will blatantly sell their services to our clients, anything from grooming, to behavioural, to teeth cleaning, to expert nutritional advice (raw feeders). Anti vaxxers - so you have to wonder why they even need us?
