When you're starting a feeding programme for tube feeding, does anybody 'prime the GI tract' with oralade for the first day? (Then go onto 1/3 requirement the following day, 2/3 the next day, full amount the next day)
I am not sure

RE: Tube feeding

James Colver Cert. I know it was bad for kidney cats but good for anything else + my boss at the time used to swear by it for hangovers! he reckoned it used to taste of sort of vanilla and if he could get his instant coffee to dissolve in it (cold) it was the ultimate 'post p**s up pick me up'(and yes he could get that tongue twister out)

RE: Tube feeding

Have never used oralade. One of the critical care sessions at BSAVA yonks back (I am talking mid 90's) mentioned using rehydration oral fluid about an hour prior to giving the first feed. This is from memory. I did try this for a while with lectade when it was still around but to be honest saw no difference to cats starting on feeds straight away - just an observation.
