So I've got myself confused and as we always advise owners not to, I've been googling and not sure what to trust! Basically my dog has persistent proteinuria confirmed over a number of UPCR tests sent to the external lab. She's been on fortekor

RE: My dog has proteinuria - should I feed her renal diet?
The proteinuria was only discovered from a urine sample that we ran when she was admitted where I work with neck pain
This is why I'm against 'fishing' trips with testing. I would take off drugs and feed normal food unless you saw the development of clinical signs. Now you've opened the can of worms check maybe every 6 months kidney bloods.

RE: My dog has proteinuria - should I feed her renal diet?

Hi

She's had a full referral work up and her kidneys are fine other than a small nodule present. The proteinuria was only discovered from a urine sample that we ran when she was admitted where I work with neck pain, she had no actual clinical signs relating to the proteinuria. Diet wise she eats that tails food so I don't think it's a particularly high protein content.

RE: My dog has proteinuria - should I feed her renal diet?

Proteinuria is not specfic to renal ie can be caused by other issues ie post renal so inflammation in urinary tract. If renal values are normal ( remember top end of normal creatine could still be iris stsge 2) and not changed in those few weeks but proteinuria has increased it would not support it being renal proteinuria? what other work up has been done? And what clinical signs resulted in you finding the proteinuria?

Do you fed a particularly high protein diet at current?
