we have already tried that - the consumables we were offered were of lower quality than I was buying elsewhere. They offered us this to try to keep our account . They couldn't match what I was paying elsewhere without compromising quality. ie I can still buy a box of 3 part terumo 2.5ml syringes at just over half the price they are charging - if I start buying 2 part syringes the vets will have a mutiny. I source all the generics and as many other products as I can elsewhere unless its a dire emergency - I just cannot understand how they arrive at their prices?

Ask them about their special prices thing. We have signed up to it and there is significant savings on consumables (still getting generics elsewhere). I was so close to moving to NVS they never quite realised but offered me this in the nick of time. Will see how it goes, but prices matched to IMS/Vetstore.

Covetrus - quite frankly you are taking the pee. Mirtazepine 15mg 28 tablets your price £80.08 sourced from my usual supplier Mirtazepine 15mg 28 tablets and its £2.50. This is how to lose customers - and the clients accuse the vets of ripping them off!

My new year resolution - I will name and shame

among the other items I also no longer buy from Covetrus, syringes ( all sizes) drapes and drape rolls, anistel, chlorhex scrub, dressings , urine strips, sterilisation pouches, BD tape, lab supplies, some of the sutures, giving sets - looking to extend this list as much as I can in the next year

isn't it just? Good job I spend practice money like its my own (ie very very carefully). I would encourage everybody to start shopping around more.

I agree. It's such a pain having to source everything from different places. The prices of some human meds are stupidly high.

we are using Axis for a few meds - have been very happy with them so far but always open to other suggestions. I just wonder how the wholesalers can justify some of their prices? Like I say we all have to cover overheads but there is covering overheads and taking the pee. Levetiracetum from our wholesaler is around 8 times the cost from elsewhere. Same manufacturer, exactly the same pack.
