I would recommend the COAPE courses, although they are now run from South Africa under COAPE International there are UK based tutors and it is still very UK biased. It is a very realistic course ( there are a number of others as well as the Diploma ) in that it prepares you to actually go and work with companion animals and not just concentrating on the underpinning knowledge. There is also a massive support network for diplomats from the association.

Hi im doing this course currently did you apply straight for the other course as i was told they will only except nurses with 5 - 10years experience ?

I am applying for the MSC in clinical animal behaviour at the moment. Its distance learning through Edinburgh and you can study part time. The Postgrad cert, (first section) is priced similarly to the COAPE course and will (hopefully) be accrediated by the ASAB. The COAPE course is now a South African course and I would always prefer a UK based course provider to ensure content is as relevant as possible.

If you haven't done the N.Cert in animal behaviour through improve international, then this is the course I finished last year and cannot recommend the speaker (Sarah Heath) or content enough.

Hello,

I did study part of the course but found it a little outdated so decided to save my time and money. I know behaviour training is often people opinions rather than set in stone rules but I felt it didn't fit in with any of my other behavioural knowledge. If I was to start again I'd certainly go for the COAPE diploma.

Hope this is helpful, but like I said the behavioural field is very opinionated and it might suit you fine :)

I'm currently doing the compass course due to financial reasons as you can pay per module rather than upfront. Really enjoying it amd plan to top up to a level 5 after

Most nurses I know have done the coape diploma which I believe can be topped up to a full degree
