that is what I thought initially - but apparently not according to the boss. Flurane isn't used as much as sevo is now in humans - but then take into consideration that sevo is now in short supply as well (and I have this info from a human anaesthetist) because production problems are also affecting it then a pound to a penny the both of us are actually right. . I suppose it will be the same as when there were issues with propofol production and virtually everything got diverted to human use. I don't think its so much Brexit as just a lack of production

I've been on the hunt for Iso this afternoon and Centaur have the human version still in stock but they are limiting it to one bottle a day per branch!

Our stock is currently fine and we're canceling/postponing routine ops, but honestly I spent today calling around to see who uses sevo locally so we have somewhere to send the inevitable pyo that needs done once we've run out!

I don't suppose the VMD have said anything about getting a SPC and importing or if the continent is having the same problem?

*Having looked into it, it looks like the VMD are allowing import certs if you can identify a suitable product. Not sure how I'd even begin to go about this haha

haven't tried that particular one but thank you will give it a try . I can understand to some extent why none of the manufacturers or wholesalers gave warnings (to prevent everybody stockpiling) but hell a bit more notice would have been good.

Have you tried a human pharmacy such as Raman as they were always very helpful with any hard to obtain products.

Boehringer - have the only stocks in the country at the moment and are allocating their stocks to try and benefit everybody, but I think they are prioritising those that already use their product. I don't think we have been allocated any - still waiting to find out. I was quietly cursing inside this evening when our vet booked in a cruciate repair on Monday, they know we are short, but when its gone its gone and there is nothing I can do about it. We don't have sevo but I have a decent amount of propofol and a few other bits laid by, I'm not certain but I think we still have a halothane vapouriser knocking around somewhere. Maybe we will have to look and see if we can source halothane even if it is pricey?

I think some large companies (ie iVC) are trying to source human equivalent but im not sure what you do if you are a private company. We have managed to get some sent to us direct from boeringer but only 2 bottles and theyve said after that no more :/

There is a nationwide shortage apparently, you may have to get other brands of iso for now such as isocare, iso vet, vetflurane, isoba etc. you may even have to ring the drug companies yourself to see if they have any stock you can have. hope this helps :)
