Does anyone use Methadone S/C overnight with view to S/C route having a longer half life of the drug? Struggling to find any papers or sources of info on it. Nothing solid in NOAH or formulary.
Many Thanks

RE: Subcutaneous Methadone

James Colver Cert. Data sheet warns that it can take 1 hour to be effective s/c and 15 mins i/m. At best that buys you 45 minutes with a drug lasting ~4 hours.

Despite what the data sheet says I've seen little difference between i/m and s/c speed of onset, based on clinical signs and pain scoring. We only use the drug i/m under anesthesia.
