I have a quick question. Does anyone have any tips to help disinfect a home that has had an animal with ringworm?
Clearly this is of great concern to the immunocompromised patient as contracting ringworm (dermatophytes) will definitely affect them severely (even to morbidity in extreme cases).

Recommend just one (healthy) person deals with cat patient. Deploy meticulous handwashing and a change of clothes (left with cat and not exposed to human patient) after each handling of the cat as essential to avoid cross contamination/spread. Hugely sensible to clear out of all pet bedding and clean anything the cat has come into contact with (skin shedding). Full vacuum 2 days before human patient arrives home and damp dust surfaces just prior.

?Keep cat confined to one room that human patient has no access to whilst cat is being treated and kept in until clear? Possibly difficult to achieve and likely stressful for the cat... Hospitalise the cat? Again stressful. Could go for cattery isolation? Probably expensive and stressful. However, cannot underplay the possibility of catastrophic consequences of an immunocompromised patient contracting this disease so.. recommend medical advice is sought from the relevant human practitioner beforehand.

It is timely that this has been discovered before the human patient has been exposed to the disease. That's a god send.
