Rabbits feature quite highly on our operating list and so far anaesthetic recoveries have been good but I'm concerned that the bunnies aren't eating

RE: Rabbits - Anaesthetic recovery/post op

Thanks muchly! Don't think I have much influence over premeds but will definitely try Recovery once they are up & about (& swallowing!)

Only prob comes with breath holding for Isoflo but they up and about much quicker afterwards

RE: Rabbits - Anaesthetic recovery/post op

That's great, thank you so much. We use same protocol but wasn't sure what to syringe postop. Will get some Recovery diet now Thanks again x

RE: Rabbits - Anaesthetic recovery/post op

Evening!!

Bunny anaesthetic‘s have never been my fav...

But a protocol I really love for bunny GA is, iv catheter placemen, SC fluids 10ml/kg before GA, Metoclop, metacam, baytril -/+, Zantac pre op, premed consist of sedator, ketamin, and vetergesic. Then tube if poss.

Op is performed, atipam to reverse, and once awake offer grass, food ect, and syringe feed recovery every 1hr to encourage eating, if not eating repeat fluids at VS directions, usually works really well, and they’re eating before Home time.
