A little behaviour advice if possible please. Asking this on behalf of S.Sister regards her 2 girls. She and her husband have 3 cats in total. 1 neutered male - B, who is pretty chilled, and 2 girls, mother and daughter who I will just call P

RE: Help with a multi-cat household problem

Thank You everyone. Their move date happened sooner than expected so no chance to look into optins beforehand. As of Friday they are in the new house and it's bigger with a lovely established and planted garden with pergola and vines to climb. A big difference from the culdesac and yard. Fingers crossed the new environment will help but if not then I think they will have to consider rehoming W so everyone is happy. If I didn' have 2 very senior indoor cats and live on a crazy main road I'd take her myself. Thanks for the tips. Will pass them on.

RE: Help with a multi-cat household problem

I went to Sarah Heath for my cats behavioural issues. She created a plan for my boy and it's really helped. The occasional pee party at the front door but much better than daily pee parties all over the house.

Her practice is Behaviour Referrals.

RE: Help with a multi-cat household problem

Nice advice sarahjune People need to feel less guilty about re-homing - it is often a great solution. It may be far kinder to W in the long run. Long term stress is a very bad thing. Plus the relief in the household is huge when a situation like this is resolved.

RE: Help with a multi-cat household problem

I have 4 cats all rescue, they do tend to get on 98% of the time but to help I do the following:

Pet remedy plugged in upstairs and down stairs

Various large water bowls and 2 water fountains around the house

Medium to large cat climbing frame in every room

6 cat feeding bowls but 3 are different types of activity feeding bowls

I also have 5 enclosed litter trays in different locations

I feel with all the above they can avoid each other and not interact if they don't want too

Not sure if that helps or not.

I'm going on a CPD in CAW in huntingdon in June about cat behaviour and multi cat households so will let you know if anything else is advised

RE: Help with a multi-cat household problem

She has tried both feliway and RC Calm diet in the past and when P was going through a stress time but didn't have much effect with the two of them since. The move is happening sooner than expected so they are going to see how things go with the new area and larger space. I have told her about Pet Remedy and Feliway Friends to help with the move and hopefully with any tension so fingers crossed. Any tips about home mental and physical stimulation to keep the peace would still be appreciated. Has she tried the feliway friends? Good for multicat households, can get diffuser for rooms, usually works quite well according to owners we have here.
